KIDS HOPE EAGLE ROCK
Mentors complete a one hour interview with the program director, are screened and trained (4 hours) including in how to respect the separation of church and state which is fundamental to our partnership with public schools.
OUR GOAL IS SIMPLE: TO INTERVENE IN THE LIVES OF KIDS in EAGLE ROCK WITH “NO STRINGS ATTACHED” AND BECOME Consistent AGENTS OF TRANSFORMATION, AFFIRMATION, AND HOPE!
In 1993, the Commission on Children found that children who have one stable adult in their lives (outside of their families) do better in school and make better life choices. KIDS HOPE USA (a national program) was created partially in response to these findings. Kids Hope is a national program - active in over 1000 schools and 30 states- that shares a passion to help America’s most vulnerable children experience the joy and support of a mentor from the community. Our program was the first of many partnerships in the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) and greater LA area.
Kids Hope is committed to a policy of equal opportunity for all students and does not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, sexual orientation, gender identity or epression, national origin, ancestry, disability, citizenship or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws. However, due to the popularity of the program and the strict vetting process we have for mentors we often have more students than volunteers. At times children will be placed on a waiting list until a match can be found.
